The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) is a British theatre company located in Stratford-upon-Avon but with additional bases in London and Newcastle.
In Stratford-upon-Avon the RSC runs four theatres:
'The Royal Shakespeare Theatre' - Currently closed for extensive redevelopment.
'The Swan Theatre' - Indoor version of an Elizabethan theatre.
'The Other Place' - Small black box theatre (closed until completion RST).
'The Courtyard Theatre' - 1,000-seat theatre with a thrust stage.(RST Prototype)
The Company's main performances will be held at 'The Courtyard' theatre whilst the 'Royal Shakespeare Theatre' is closed. But when this new development is completed in 2010 the Courtyard will be dismantled and 'The Other Place' will re-open once more.
